The waterfront Cronulla home of Antonius and Gertruda van Hoorn, whose romance began in the acclaimed Circus Renz in Holland in the 1940s, has been listed for an October 15 auction through Matt Callaghan and Melissa Hatheier at Matt Callaghan Property.
There is $4.6m to $5m price guidance for the home at 18a Dodson Avenue, Cronulla.
The couple were trapeze artists in the circus, with their love story even influencing the script for Michael Gracey’s hit musical film The Greatest Showman.
The 2017 movie starred Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Michelle Williams and grossed US$US435m ($A647m) at the box office.
The three-bedroom Dodson Ave home on 720 sqm last traded when bought in a mortgagee sale in 1975 at $46,250. The late couple’s children – Yvonne, Tanya, Carmen and Valeska – were all models.
“With views of the iconic Gunnamatta Pavilion and Cronulla Marina from your bedroom and main living space, this coastal home provides a wonderfully unique, waterfront opportunity, with very few stairs from your door to the waters edge,” the listing reads.
“Perfect for those looking to downsize but not wanting to be in community living this ultra private and conveniently positioned home is just a short stroll to Cronulla Mall, train station, ferry wharf and beautiful beaches.”
