Musician and John Farnham’s son, Rob Farnham, is hoping his renovated Richmond townhouse will strike a chord with buyers at a Saturday auction.
The three-bedroom property at 10 Albert Place will go under the hammer with a
$1.6m-$1.7m price guide.
The 42-year old’s alternative rock band Rival Fire released their Far From Home EP and supported KISS at Rod Laver Arena during the super group’s Australian tour in August, the same month that John Farnham, 73, underwent surgery for mouth cancer.
Public records show that Rob owns the Richmond townhouse, which he purchased for $1.15m in 2011, according to CoreLogic.
Jellis Craig Boroondara director Richard Winneke said Rob had lived in the townhouse before moving out and retaining it as an investment property.
“Having owned something similar when I was Rob’s age, I can say it’s a classic two-storey townhouse, perfect for a couple or a family with a child, or someone looking to downsize who may want a lockup and leave if they have a weekend retreat on the Peninsula or elsewhere, it would make a great city base,” Mr Winneke said.
“It’s great for that groovy inner city lifestyle and living, close to bars, restaurants and you could walk to the MCG or the city.”
Close to the Yarra River and Burnley, the circa-2000 home features a soaring double-height void, open plan living areas, an office, a stone-surfaced kitchen, two bathrooms and a landscaped alfresco courtyard.
“It has been fully renovated which is the best advantage in my opinion, the day you buy it you could walk in and you don’t have to do any more work,” Mr Winneke said.
Rob upgraded the townhouse shortly after moving in and also did a more recent renovation.
“He repainted, recarpeted and modernised the kitchen and bathroom, and also repainted the outside,” Mr Winneke said.
He said Rob had done a lot of entertaining at the townhouse which is located in a no-through road.
Mr Winneke said another highlight of the townhouse was its double garage.
“Having a double garage is very hard to find in Richmond,” he added.
